2.3.9 Connecting Optical Fibers
This section describes how to install optical transceivers on the ports and how to connect
them to the peer device ports using optical fibers according to the network plan.
Installing Fiber Spools
NOTE
Wind excess optical fibers around fiber spools for convenient cable routing and device maintenance.
Determine the locations of the fiber spools based on the device arrangement in the cabinet. Positioning
the fiber spools too close to the device operation area may inhibit board insertion or removal or cabling.
However, positioning the fiber spools too far away from the device may inhibit fiber spool operation.

CAUTION
Do not look into the optical interface of the optical module or the optical fiber connector
without eye protection.
Put on the ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves before installing optical modules.
