Procedure
Step 1
Check the location of the SFU to be replaced.
Before pulling out an SFU that is to be replaced, first determine the location of the SFU, that
is , the cabinet, chassis, and slot where the SFU resides.
l
The USG9560 has one SFU, which resides in slot 11.
l
The USG9580 has four SFUs in slots 19, 20, 21, and 22 separately.
Locate the SFU to be replaced in the chassis and label the SFU.
Step 2
Prepare a new SFU and check whether there is any bent pin in the connector.
Step 3
Power off the SFU to be replaced.
Use either of the following methods:
l
Press and hold the OFL button on the panel of the SFU for six seconds until the OFL
indicator is on.
l
In the user view, run the
power off

slot-id
command.
Step 4
Pull out the SFU to be replaced from the chassis.

Put on the ESD wrist strap and connect the grounding terminal to the ESD jack on the
rack.
2.
Loosen the two captive screws by turning them counter-clockwise with a Phillips
screwdriver, as shown in

Turn the ejector levers on the panel of the SFU outward and upward. When the ejector
levers and the panel form a 45-degree angle, the SFU is removed from the backplane, as
shown in
NOTICE
– Pull out the SFU slowly and smoothly to prevent it from hitting neighboring boards
and affecting running boards.
– Touching parts on the SFU when swapping it may damage the SFU.
4.
Hold the ejector levers on the panel of the SFU and pull out the SFU smoothly from the
chassis along the guide rail of the slot. After the SFU protrudes from the chassis by
roughly 30 cm to 40 cm, support the lower edge of the SFU with one hand and hold the
panel of the SFU with the other hand. Then, pull out the SFU smoothly from the slot, as
shown in
5.
Place the removed SFU in the ESD bag.
