Follow-up Procedure
After replacing the SFU, collect all tools. If the replaced SFU is faulty, fill in the
and send the faulty module with the Repair Transmission Sheet to the
equipment supplier or the specified repair service provider.
3.1.3 Replacing an LPU
This section describes the precaution and procedure for replacing an LPU.
Context
Before replacing an LPU, note the following:
l
You must first prepare a new LPU before replacing an LPU.
l
When replacing boards on the USG9580, ensure that the boards in the lower chassis are
installed inversely.
Tool
Before replacing an LPU, you need the following tools:
l
ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves
l
Phillips screwdriver
l
ESD bag
Procedure
Step 1
Check the location of the LPU to be replaced.
l
Before pulling out an LPU that is to be replaced, first check the location of the LPU, that
is, the cabinet, chassis, and slot where the LPU resides.
l
USG9580 has 16 LPU slots numbered from 1 to 16.
l
USG9560 has 8 LPU slots numbered from 1 to 8.
l
USG9520 has 3 LPU slots numbered from 1 to 3.
Locate the LPU to be replaced in the chassis and label the LPU.
Step 2
Check whether there is any bent pin in the connector of the new LPU.
Step 3
Power off the LPU to be replaced.
Use either of the following methods:
l
Press and hold the OFL button on the panel of the LPU for five seconds until the OFL
indicator turns on.
l
In the user view, run the
power
off

slot-id
command.
