Before removing the old fan module, check its location, that is , the cabinet and chassis where
the fan module resides, and then label it.
Step 2
Put on the ESD wrist strap and connect the ground terminal to the ESD jack on the chassis.
Step 3
Using the Phillips screwdriver, turn the captive screws on the fan module to loosen them, as
shown in
Step 4
Pull the upper handle upward and the lower handle downward to draw the fan module about 5
cm out of the slot, then stop. When the fans stop rotating, continue pulling out the fan module,
as shown in
(2).

Step 5
Insert a new fan module into the chassis.
Hold the upper and lower handles of the fan module, and slowly and horizontally insert the
fan module along the guide rails in the slot until the back of the fan module properly connects
to the backplane. Using the Phillips screwdriver, fasten the fan module to the chassis by
tightening the captive screws, as shown in

Step 6
Verify that the fan module is working properly.
Normally, after the new fan module is inserted into the chassis, the fans inside it immediately
start to draw air from the chassis. In this case, you can check whether the new fan module is
working normally in the following ways:

Check the FAN indicator on the panel of the fan module. If it is green, the fan module is
working normally. If the indicator is red, the fan module is not working normally.
