The site of the equipment room should be chosen to avoid high temperatures, dust, toxic
gases, explosive materials, and unstable voltage. Keep the equipment room away from power
transformer stations as well as areas susceptible to strong vibrations and very loud noises.
The specific requirements for selecting an equipment room site are as follows:
l
The room should be located at least 5 km away from heavy pollution sources such as
smelting plants and coal mines, at least 3.7 km away from moderate pollution sources
such as chemical, rubber, and galvanization plants, and at least 2 km away from light
pollution sources such as packinghouses and tanyards. If these pollution sources cannot
be avoided, ensure that the equipment room is situated upwind of and as far away from
the pollution sources as possible and invest in protection products.
l
The room should be located far away from or upwind of livestock farms. Do not use a
former livestock room or fertilizer warehouse as the equipment room.
l
The room's air vent should be located far away from city waste exhaust pipes, large
cesspools, and sewage treatment tanks. The room should be in the positive pressure state,
lest corrosive gases enter the equipment room and erode components and circuit boards.
l
The room should be located far away from industrial and heating boilers.
l
The room should be on the second floor or higher. If this requirement cannot be met, the
equipment in the room should be on ground at least 600 mm above the highest flood
level on local records. The room should be at an altitude of less than 3,000 m.
l
The room should be at least 3.7 km away from the ocean or a salt lake. Otherwise, the
equipment room must be airtight and contain cooling facilities. In addition, alkalized soil
cannot be used as the construction material. Otherwise, equipment suitable for wet
conditions must be used.
l
The equipment room should be strong enough to resist winds and downpours.
l
The room should be located away from dusty roads or sand fields. If this is unavoidable,
the doors and windows of the equipment room should not face pollution sources.
A.3.2 Equipment Room Layout
The equipment room is usually used to install mobile switching equipment, telecom
transmission equipment, and power supply equipment as well as other auxiliary equipment.
To facilitate maintenance and management, place telecom equipment in different rooms.
shows the recommended layout of the equipment room.
