Label Contents for Power Cables
Labels for power cables are only affixed on one side of the identification plates. They contain
information about the location of the device on the other end of the cable, like the location of
control cabinet, distribution box, or power socket.
Label Contents for Signal Cables
Both sides of the label affixed on the signal cable contain information about the location of
the ports connected to both ends of the cable.

Area 1 contains information about the location of the local end of the cable.

Area 2 (marked with "TO:") contains information about the location of the opposite end
of the cable.

Area 3 is folded inside the label and contains no information.

From the perspective of the cabling end of the equipment, the text part of the label is on the
right side of the cable. The side marked "TO:" faces outward and contains information about
the location of the opposite end of the cable; the other side contains information about the
location of the local end.
Information in Area 1 at one end of the cable is the same as the information in Area 2 at the
other end of the cable.
A.5.1.7 Labeling Precautions
When using labels, note the following:

When printing, writing on, or affixing labels, keep the labels clean.
l
Since the label paper is made of moistureproof and waterproof material, ink-jet printers
and fountain pens cannot be used for labeling.
l
Labels should be affixed neatly. Newer label types are strip-shaped.
l
Power cable ties should be tied in the same position as power cables with identification
plates on the same side.
l
The directions "up", "down", "left" or "right" are all based on the viewpoint of the
working engineer.
