3.4.1 Replacing the DC PEM of the USG9580
This section describes the DC power module of the USG9580 and the procedure for replacing
the power module.
Precautions
l
Before replacing a PEM, power it off by turning off the corresponding air circuit breaker
on the power distribution cabinet. The PEM to be replaced is powered off. In addition,
switch off the PEM.

Before replacing a PEM, ensure that its backup PEM works properly.
l
The USG9580 has eight PEMs working in 4+4 backup mode. You can power off one
PEM at a time during replacement.

Procedure
Step 1
Check the location of the PEM to be replaced.
Before removing the old PEM, check its location, that is, the cabinet and chassis where the
PEM resides, and label the PEM.
Step 2
Put on the ESD wrist strap and connect the grounding terminal to the ESD jack on the chassis.
Step 3
Turn off the corresponding air circuit breaker on the power distribution cabinet. This will
power off the PEM to be replaced. In addition, switch off the PEM.
