5. Intended use of the Pendel FD
The Pendel is designed for the transportation of one person inside a manual wheelchair.
This person should have enough physical capacity to control and steer the Pendel FD
without any problems. This means that the hand function of the driver should be in a state
that he or she can control the throttle, brake levers and switches. Also the steering should
be no problem for them as well. The Pendel is classified as a Class C wheelchair.
The wheelchair to fit inside the Pendel FD should have two large wheels in the rear and
two small castor wheels in the front. The wheel size of the large wheels should be 24 or 26
inch.
The Pendel FD is designer to drive on flat and solid grounds. Public roads and special
roads for bicycles are ideal for the Pendel FD.
The maximum slope to drive should not exceed 17%.
If you drive the first time with the Pendel FD, make sure you try it on a
large free area like a empty car parking. Make sure you have
somebody with you who can help you.
For road use in your country, you might need additional insurance.
Please check this matter before you use the Pendel FD on public
roads.
As user of the Pendel FD on public roads, you need to be aware of the
national regulations for traffic.
Be careful drive downhill. Never exceed the maximum speed of
15 km/h downhill. Always drive slowly and controlled downhill.
Avoid driving through water and mud holes. Also drive carefully on
wet and slippery surfaces. These surfaces have a negative influence
on the driving characteristics of the Pendel FD
Avoid driving in very heavy rain. The roads can be very slippery.
Extreme rainfall might also cause water entering the Pendel and
disturb the electronic system. If the Pendel is parked outside, make
sure it is covered with a tarpaulin to protect the vehicle against heavy
rainfall.
