4.4 Emergency Feature
The
telephone is equipped with an emergency call feature, specially designed for people
living alone. It sports an »SOS« key on the top of the telephone, and also provides a
wireless pendant for making an emergency call.
When
»SOS« key on the telephone or the button on pendant is pressed for 3 seconds,
the phone will:
a) A loud acoustic alarm is sounded for 15 seconds to get immediate help within the
house.
b) If no help arrives, the phone dials up to 5 defined numbers from the emergency call
list in sequence (for emergency number editing, please refer to “store number”);
c) If the called number answers the emergency call, either the default pre-recorded
message “
This is an emergency call, to accept the call press zero
” or the user-recorded
emergency message will be played back. If the call recipient presses the 0 key on his
telephone, 2 minutes of hands-free speakerphone conversation will be activated.
d) After 2 minutes, warning beeps will sound and after 10 seconds, the first emergency
call is disconnected and the next emergency number in the list will be dialed. If the
call recipient presses key »1« and then key »5« during the warning beeps, the speaker-
phone conversation can last more 2 minutes again, and so on.
The
call receipient can also cancel the speakerphone conversation at any time by
pressing key »1«, followed by key »9«.
e) Press and hold the »SOS« button on the telephone or the emergency pendant for
3 seconds and the emergency call process will be stopped.
Please note: The emergency call routine can only function if emergency dial numbers
have been defined.
If no numbers are set, only the acoustic alarm will be sounded for 15 seconds when the
emergency feature is triggered.
