2.5 Opening the Box
CAUTION!
The welding device may be opened only by specialized staff of Hürner
Schweisstechnik or staff of a service shop who were trained and autho-
rized by us.
2.6 Using Extension Cables on the Worksite
Only the use of properly approved extension cables that are labeled as
such and have the following conductor sections, is allowed:
up to 20 m: 1.5 mm² (2.5 mm² recommended); Type H07RN-F
over 20 m:
2.5 mm² (4.0 mm² recommended); Type H07RN-F
CAUTION!
When using the extension cable, it must always be rolled off
completely and lie fully extended.
2.7 Checking the Welding Unit for Damage
Each time before operating the welding unit, check safety features or pos-
sibly existing parts with minor damage for proper function. Make sure that
the connection terminals work properly, that contact is fully established,
and that the contact surfaces are clean. All parts have to be installed
correctly and have to properly conform to all conditions for the unit to
work as intended. Damaged safety features or functional parts should be
properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service shop.
2.8 Interface Port Cover
The protective cover lid has to be placed over the interface port during
welding, so as to prevent humidity and contaminations from entering
into the port.
2.9 Power Supply Specs
2.9.1 Mains Power Supply
EVU wiring regulations, VDE provisions, regulations for prevention of acci-
dents, DIN / EN regulations, and national codes have to be respected.
CAUTION!
When using power line manifolds on the worksite, make sure earth-leak-
age circuit-breakers (FI) are present (regulations).
Generator or mains power fuse protection should be max. 16 A (slow).
The HST300
+ has to be protected from rain and humidity.
2.9.2 Generator Power Supply
The required nominal generator capacity, as determined by the rating
of the largest fitting to be welded, depends on the power supply condi-
tions, the ambient conditions, and the generator type itself including its
regulation characteristics.
Nominal output power for a generator 1 phase, 220 - 240V, 50 - 60Hz.
d 20 ...... d 160
3.2 kW
d 160 ..... d 450
4
kW mechanic regulation
5
kW electronic regulation
Start the generator first, then connect the welding unit. The idle voltage
should be set to approx. 240 volts. When turning the generator off, dis-
connect the welding unit first.
CAUTION!
The working output power of the generator decreases by about 10% per
1,000 m of altitude.
