Cylinder block and valve mechanism
Check the valve clearance with feeler
gauges.
Adjust if necessary using the adjuster
screw. Do not forget to lock the setting
with the locking nut.
Check that the setting is correct.
5. Loosen the locking nut (B).
6. Insert the feeler gauge (C) between
the valve shaft and the adjuster
screw (D).
7. Adjust the valve clearance with the
adjuster screw and lock the setting
with the locking nut.
8. Check that the setting is correct.
Valve clearance with a cold engine:
Inlet:
0,06 – 0,10 mm
Exhaust:
0,09 – 0,13 mm
Clean the filter (A) for the crankcase
ventilation .
Check that the bushing (B) is in
position and that the ventilation duct is
not clogged.
Blow clean all oil ducts with
compressed air.
Before fitting the valve cover, dismantle
and clean the filter (A) for the
crankcase ventilation.
Blow clean all oil ducts with
compressed air.
Check that the bushing (B) is in position
and that the ventilation duct is not
clogged.
Fit the valve cover.
Camshaft gear
Press out the camshaft gear’s bearing
axle using a suitable punch (3 mm).
Pull the belt to one side and lift out the
gear.
Camshaft gear
Dismantle the following:
Air filter cowling, cylinder cover, spark
plug.
To make the following setting easier
also dismantle the ignition coil and fan
housing cover with fitted clutch housing
and the shaft.
Press out the camshaft gear’s bearing
axle using a suitable punch (3 mm).
Pull the belt to one side and lift out the
gear.
The camshaft gear is equipped with a
device to assist starting.
When starting the lever arm (A) is in
the normal position and the paw (B) on
the cam (C) is in the extended position.
When attempting to start the paw acts
on the exhaust valve so that it opens a
few millimetres. The compression
pressure decreases and the engine is
easier to turn over with the starter.
When the engine starts and rotates
faster, the lever arm (A) moves
outwards due to centrifugal forces and
the paw turns into the cam via a link
system.
Check that the lever arm is easy to turn
when servicing.
