Now take a reading on the brown lead's connec-
tion to the microswitch, it should be around battery
voltage (36 V) measured to GND blue lead (GND
connection on rear carriage). NB. The seat switch
must be activated, also the switch checking the
cutting deck is in place must be activated and the
cutting deck must be lowered and the machine
must be activated in order to obtain a voltage on
this brown lead.
If there is a voltage on the brown lead, take a
reading of the connection for the yellow leads, it
should be the same voltage on the connection. If
not, there is a fault in the microswitch, change and
retest. If there is a voltage on the yellow leads, a
signal is sent down to the cutting motor controls,
provided it is not a break in the cable down to
the cutting deck, the next test is to measure the
connectors down on the cutting deck. Unplug the
two four-pole connectors and take a reading in the
connector for the two leads, they are receptacles
so a thin wire must be used in order to enter the
connector and make contact with the receptacle
inside. If there is also a voltage there, the cable
is OK from the switch down to the motor controls.
If the cutting deck fails to start after checking that
there is a voltage, check that there is a power
supply reaching the motor control. There are two
large fuses on the rear carriage and one located
over the batteries under the cover that is below the
driver seat.

All these fuses are checked first but if the machine
can be driven but not the cutting deck started, it
will suffice to check the 80 A fuse that is mounted
on the rear carriage. There are two thick leads
running from this fuse down to the cutting deck
to supply the motor controls. If this fuse is intact,
unplug the two connectors with one thick black and
one red cable down on the cutting deck and take a
reading in the connector coming from the machine
between the black and the red leads with a multi-
meter set to volt. Between these two receptacles it
should read battery voltage, about 36 V.
If not and the 80 A fuse is intact, there is probably
a break between the fuse and the connector, but
there may also be a break in the black lead as it
also goes to the rear carriage where it connects to
the common GND. There is one further possibility
and that is that one of the connections has poor
contact so there is a voltage drop when it starts to
supply current through the cables.
If this type of fault arises, check that the screws
holding the cables at the 80 A fuse are tight and
that there is not bad contact to the minus leads at
their connection with the common GND connec-
tion. If all this has been checked, there is probably
a defect in the motor controls on the cutting deck,
but they are dual controls so it is probable that
only one control is defective and then one motor
will start for a short time and then stop. This is due
to CCU receiving a fault message from the motor
controls that they are defective and then CCU also
shuts down the functioning motor. Consequently
if there is a fault where the cutting deck starts for
about 3 seconds and then stops, it is probable that
one motor is not in working order.
