2.6.2 Scan Stay Condition
The radio detects the signal and determines whether to stay on the channel during
scanning.
The CTCSS/CDCSS can be set as the scan stay condition for the analog channel.
Generally, the voice transmission on the analog channel is accompanied by the
CTCSS/CDCSS. If no CTCSS/CDCSS is detected on a channel, it means there are
no activities on the corresponding channel. The radio will skip such channel, thus
reducing the scanning time. For the digital channel, the CTCSS/CDCSS can also be
set as the scan stay condition.
The CTCSS/CDCSS scan modes include:
Disabled: The radio will not detect CTCSS/CDCSS during scanning.
Non-priority Channel: The radio will detect CTCSS/CDCSS while scanning the
non-priority channel.
Priority Channel: The radio will detect CTCSS/CDCSS while scanning the
priority channel.
Priority and Non-priority Channel: The radio will detect CTCSS/CDCSS while
scanning any channel in the scan list.
If the radio has detected activities on an analog channel, it will determine whether to
stay on such channel, according to the squelch mode for the current channel and
the scan mode for the used scan list. After staying on this channel, the radio will
determine whether to play the voice on the channel, according to the stay condition.

If the radio has detected activities on a digital channel, it needs to detect carrier,
synchronization code and color code. If they match, the radio will stay on such digital
channel. The ID includes the individual ID and group ID. Currently, the data services
such as GPS service and remote monitoring service are not considered as the scan
stay condition for our DMR radio.
