CAUTION
Be sure to check the oil level before each use with the generator on a
level surface with the engine stopped.
1. Check the engine oil level.
CAUTION
■ Using non detergent oil or 2-stroke engine oil could shorten the engine’s
service life.
Use high-detergent, premium quality 4-stroke engine oil, certifi ed to meet or exceed
U.S. automobile manufacturer’s requirements for API Service Classifi cation SJ or
later (equivalent). Always check the API Service label on the oil container to be sure
it includes the letter SJ or later (equivalent).
10W-30 is recommended to for general, all-temperature use. Other viscosities show
in the chart may be used when the average temperature in your area is within the
indicated ranger.
1 Placed the generator on the level surface.
2 Loosen the cover screw and remove the maintenance cover.
3 Remove the oil fi ller cap and wipe the dipstick clean.
4 Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick into the fi ller neck
without screwing it in.
5 If the oil level is low, refi ll to the upper limit of the oil fi ller
neck with the recommended oil.
6 Screw in the oil fi lter cap/dipstick securely.
7 Reinstall the maintenance cover and tighten the cover screw securely.
NOTE
■Running the engine with insuffi cient oil can cause
serious engine damage.
Do not overfi ll the engine with oil. If the engine is
overfi lled, the excess oil
may be transferred to the air cleaner housing and
air fi lter.
