AIR CLEANER SERVICE
Wash your hands with soap and water after handing used oil.
NOTE
■Improper disposal of engine oil can be harmful to the environment. If you
change your own oil, please dispose of it properly. Put it in a sealed container,
and take it to a recycling center. Do not discard it in a trash bin, dump it on the
ground, or pour it down a drain.
8.2 AIR CLEANER SERVICE
A dirty air cleaner will restrict air fl ow to the carburetor. To prevent carburetor malfunction, service
the air cleaner regularly. Service more frequently when operating the generator in extremely dusty
areas.
WARNING
■Do not use gasoline or low fl ash point solvents for cleaning. They
are fl ammable and explosive under certain conditions.
1. Loosen the cover screw and remove the left side maintenance cover.
2. Loosen the air cleaner cover screw and remove the air cleaner cover.
3. Wash the main and outer fi lter in a solution of household detergent and warm water, then risen
thoroughly or wash in nonfl ammable or high fl ash point solvent. Allow the fi lters to dry thoroughly.
4. Soak the main and outer fi lter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil. The engine
will smoke during initial startup if too much oil left in the air fi lters.
5. Reinstall the air fi lters.
6. Make sure that the rubber seal is set in the groove of the air fi lter cover.
7. Reinstall the air cleaner cover, and tighten the air fi lter cover screw.
8. Reinstall the left side maintenance cover and tighten the cover screw securely.
