IBM Cabling System
The IBM Cabling System standardizes the wiring in a building. This cabling system
lets you move various devices without rewiring the building each time a device is
moved.
The signal cable that attaches the printer to this cabling system is a 150-ohm IBM
Cabling System shielded twisted pair (ICS) attachment cable.
Up to seven printers can be connected to a single computer port; however, the
maximum length of this cable on any port cannot be longer than 1524 m (5000 ft).
The printer does not require a balun at the printer end when connected to IBM
Cabling System. The host system or controller may require a balun.
Ordering Attachment Cables and Connectors from IBM
The signal cables for connecting the printer to the IBM Cabling System are called
attachment cables.
