4.3 System Port Basic Functions
This section describes the basic functions available when connected to an AS/400.
4.3.1 Printable Characters
The following character types and sizes are available:
Character Set
The following character sets can be used:
Alphanumeric character set displayed as single byte EBCDIC code.
System character set provided by IBM displayed as 2 byte IBM code.
Vertical special character set displayed as 2 byte code.
User defined, original character set.
The following describes the makeup of the character set.
The alphanumeric characters set consists of; song (12 cpi), song (10 cpi), song
(8cpi), Gothic, Courier, Elite, Condense, OCR-B, and DP Gothic font styles. An 18
dot vertical font is also available.
Character sets except user defined characters are stored in the Read Only Storage
(ROS) in the printer.
The user defined characters are sent from the host as character data when they
are required during printing.
