Step 9

1. Set the power switch on the CPU Enclosure to On, with the key mode switch set to
Service.
2. Find your symptom in the following table; then follow the instructions given in the Action
column.
Symptom
Action
The power light does not come on or
comes on and does not stay on. An SRN
is displayed on the operator panel display.
Note: Some systems do not power on if
the mode switch is in the Secure position.
Ensure that the mode switch is in the
Service position. If it is not, place the
mode switch in the Service position, and
start over at the beginning of this substep.
If SRN is
409-Axy
or
409-Bxy
, go to
Step 10, otherwise find the SRN in the
Service Request Number List in the
Diagnostic Information For Micro Channel
Bus Systems; then do the listed action.
The power-on light comes and stays on.
Note: It is not a power supply error.
If there is an SRN displayed on the
Operator Panel, Find the SRN in the
Service Request Number List in the
Diagnostic Information For Micro Channel
Bus Systems; then do the action listed.
If there is no SRN, Go to MAP 1540.
The power on light does not come on or
comes on and does not stay on.
Stand-By
is displayed on in the Operator
Panel Display.
The problem may be caused by a
defective system interface board (80%),
operator panel (10%), or power supply
(10%). Use “MAP 0410” in
Diagnostic
Information For Micro Channel Bus
Systems to check out the repair.
Any other symptom.
Call your service support person for
assistance.
