–s:filename The –s:
filename command specifies the name
of the file that contains security information.
For more about security information, see
“Background-server component security” on
page 153.
–f
The –f command specifies to log messages
to the default file, IPSADM.LOG.
–f:filename The -f:
filename command lets you specify the
name of a file in which to log messages.
–d
The –d command disables the logging of
messages to the standard output, which is
usually the screen.
Logging messages:
Messages generated by the ServeRAID adapter or
controller consist of startup information, connecting and
disconnecting clients, and error messages.
When using the –f, –f:
filename and –d parameters, you
can specify how you want the ServeRAID messages
handled. The default is to log messages to the standard
output, which is usually the screen. However, you can
have these messages logged to other output devices, such
as a printer or a text file.
The following information provides examples of different
formats for using the IPSADM command and the results.

Background-server component security:
Security information is maintained in an optional text file on
the server. The file stores unencrypted user names and
unencrypted passwords; therefore, the file must be kept in
a secure directory.
When user names and passwords are entered into the
Administration and Monitoring Program (the client), they
are encrypted for delivery to the server. The server
