Hard Disk 32-bit Access Setting this parameter to Enabled improves system
performance by allowing the use of the 32-bit hard disk access. This enhanced
IDE feature only works under Windows 3.x, OS/2, Windows 95, Windows 98,
and Novell NetWare. If your software does not support this function, set this
parameter to Disabled. The default setting is Enabled.
DMA Transfer Mode Setting this DMA Transfer Mode parameter to Auto will
enhance performance by maximizing the data transfer rate for this drive. If set
this parameter to Disable, the data transfer rate will be the most safe PIO mode
4.
Input/Output Ports
From the Setup main menu, select the Input/Output Ports option to view or
change port configuration settings. The Input/Output Ports menu appears.
This menu lets you configure serial and parallel ports.
Also included in this menu are items for enabling or disabling the onboard
controller chipsets.
Serial Port
The machine type 2170 comes with a 9-pin serial port. This parameter displays
the current address for serial port. The default setting Base Address is 2F8h
and the default IRQ is 3.
For the machine 2171/2172, they come with two 9-pin serial port. Serial port 1
sets to Disable while serial port 2 sets the default to Enabled. The default
setting of Base Address is 2F8h and the default IRQ is 3.
Parallel Port
Your computer comes with one parallel port. This parameter shows the default
Enabled to activate the parallel port. The default base address is 378h and the
default IRQ is 7.
The default mode is ECP. The default DMA is 3.
Onboard PS/2 Mouse (IRQ12)
This parameter enables or disables the onboard PS/2 mouse. When set to
Enabled, it allows you to use the onboard PS/2 mouse. When set to Disabled,
it deactivates the mouse and frees IRQ 12 for the use of other devices.
