IBM System Storage DS3500: Introduction and Implementation Guide
this iSCSI Initiator. An iSCSI SW initiator in SUSE Linux is shown as example in Figure 13-16.
The IQN name offers easier way to recognize operating system of the host. If you see an
iSCSI initiator in this window, you can continue to define a new iSCSI Host.

13.7.2 Defining new iSCSI host
A new iSCSI host can be defined by the same procedure as described in section 11.2,
“Defining Host” on page 283, only different settings have to be done in Specify Host Port
Identifier window as shown in Figure 13-17 on page 335:
1. Choose ISCSI as host interface type, and if you choose Known unassociated host port
identifier selection box, you can find your iSCSI Initiator IQN name in the corresponding
pull down selection menu.
2. Continue with entering an User Label (Alias), and select Add to add this iSCSI Initiator as
a host port to your newly defined host. For iSCSI software initiator you add only one IQN
name per host.
3. Click Next to continue and finalize the host definition.
Note: You can see iSCSI Initiator IQN name of your server in this window only if you
already discovered and authenticated your DS3500 subsystem as an iSCSI Target on your
host server.
