5. Send the zip file containing the collected support data to your IBM Customer Support
representative for troubleshooting and further analysis.
14.2.2 Support Data Automatic Settings
DS Storage Manager incorporates the option to enable automatic collection of the support
data. When enabled, in the case of a critical event, the support data file is collected and
automatically transferred to the directory specified and all the information relevant for
troubleshooting by your support representative is preserved. In case consecutive critical
events occur, only the information related to the last event is stored in the auto save support
bundle.
The settings for this function are accessed through the Storage Manager menu:

menu (Figure 14-8) to open the Automatic Support Data Collection window (see
Figure 14-9 on page 343).

Tip: We recommend that you enable the Automatic Collection option in order to have a
support data file automatically generated and saved to the specified location after the
occurrence of a critical event. Make sure to:
Specify a directory outside your DS3500 system to collect the information.
Have the SM Monitor process running on the workstation or host where you collect the
logs.
