IBM System Storage DS3500: Introduction and Implementation Guide
logical drive ownership transfer. When the operation that caused the controller to be disabled
is finished, you can perform these steps to re-enable data transfer:
1. Select the disabled controller in the Physical tab of the DS Storage Manager (Subsystem
Management) window and then select the Advanced
Recovery
Enable Controller
Data Transfer menu command.
2. The controller resumes normal operation and will accept host I/O.
14.14.7 Recovery - Place Logical drives online
If the DS3500 storage subsystem experiences an interruption of power, then cache data loss
might occur. If the cache data cannot be recovered, the affected logical drives are
automatically placed offline. You can use the Place Logical drives Online function to return
logical drives that have been placed offline to the online status.
To open the Place Logical drives Online dialog, select the Advanced
Recovery
Place
Logical Drives Online menu command from the DS Storage Manager (Subsystem
Management) window.
14.14.8 Recovery - Redistribute Logical Drives
You can use the Redistribute Logical Drives function to move logical drives back to their
preferred owners. Usually, multipath drivers move logical drives from their non-preferred
controller owners when a problem occurs along the preferred data path between the host and
the storage subsystem.
Use the following procedure to restore the logical drives to their preferred controllers if the
Recovery Guru reports that there are logical drives on a non-preferred path:
1. In the DS Storage Manager (Subsystem Management) window, select the Advanced
Recovery
Redistribute Logical Drives menu command, as shown in Figure 14-140
on page 435.
Attention: You should only use this function under the guidance of your IBM Technical
Support representative.
