The customer can use the new space by creating new vdisk sets from the available space. When
the vdisk sets are added to the existing file system (if needed), the restripe operation can be
run. For more information, see IBM Spectrum Scale: Administration Guide. When you are adding a
vdisk set to a file system, the default TRIM setting is "no" irrespective of the TRIM settings of the
existing vdisk sets. Issue the mmvdisk filesystem add command with the --trim {auto|no} option
to select TRIM settings when you are adding a vdisk set to a file system. For more information, see
Enable, disable, extend, and view TRIM settings on an existing declustered array and file system in

Re-cabling guidelines from single SAS adapter pair to dual SAS adapter
pairs
This concurrent MES procedure explains how to convert cabling between 5141-FN2 and 5147-102
storage enclosures using single SAS adapter pair to dual SAS adapter pairs for up to four storage
enclosures.
The procedure assume the second SAS adapter pair needs to be added first, which is the Adapter MES by
itself, as part of this re-cabling procedure.
The following steps are the high-level flow of the procedure:
1. Perform adapter MES in Canister A/1 to add the second SAS adapter.
2. Restore the original network cabling to Canister A/1.
3. Restart GPFS and restore filesystem mounts in Canister A/1.
4. Run common system health check by using the SSR utility.
5. Perform adapter MES in Canister B/2 to add the second SAS adapter.
6. Restore the original network cabling to Canister B/2.
7. Restart GPFS and restore filesystem mounts in Canister B/2.
8. Alter cable connections in Canister A/1 to utilize both SAS adapters.
9. Alter cable connections in Canister B/2 to utilize both SAS adapters.
