7. Your server comes with a processor installed in connector A1, on the standard
processor daughterboard (A). If you need to install additional processors,
install them in the following order:
A1, A3, A2, A4
If you need to install processors on the optional processor daughterboard (B),
install them in the following order:
B1, B3, B2, B4
To install a processor:
1. Review the information in “Safety” on page v through “Handling static-sensitive
devices” on page x.
2. Run the shutdown procedure for the operating system. Turn off the server and
peripheral devices, and disconnect all external cables and power cords; then,
remove the front bezel.
3. Remove the three processor fans:
a. Pull the fastener

in the top center of the fan housing

. This places
the fastener in the unlocked position.
b. Pivot the fan downward and remove it from the server.
c. Repeat steps 3a and 3b for each additional fan.
