Removing the compute node from an IBM Flex System Enterprise
Chassis
Remove the compute node from the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis to access options, connectors,
and system-board indicators.
About this task
Attention:
v
To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis without a
compute node, expansion unit, or compute node filler installed in each bay.
v
When you remove the compute node, note the bay number. Reinstalling a compute node into a
different bay from the one where it was removed might have unintended consequences. Some
configuration information and update options are established according to bay numbers. If you
reinstall the compute node into a different bay, you might have to reconfigure the compute node.
To remove the compute node, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1.
Read the Safety topic and the “Installation guidelines” on page 29.
2.
If the compute node is operating, shut down the operating system. See “Locating the installation
instructions” on page 23 for information about locating the operating system documentation for your
compute node.
