Touch
the
static-protective
package
that
contains
the
expansion
card
to
any
unpainted
metal
surface
on
the
BladeCenter
unit
or
any
unpainted
metal
surface
on
any
other
grounded
rack
component;
then,
remove
the
expansion
card
from
the
package.
9.
Locate
the
expansion-card
connectors
and
orient
the
expansion
card.
10.
Slide
the
notch
in
the
narrow
end
of
the
card
into
the
raised
hook
on
the
expansion-card
bracket;
then,
gently
pivot
the
wide
end
of
the
card
into
the
expansion-card
connectors.

the
installation
of
the
expansion
card,

the
documentation
that
comes
with
the
expansion
card.

install
or

so
now;
otherwise,

Installing
a
high-speed
expansion
card
The
following
sections
describe
how
to
install
an
I/O
expansion
card
in
the
blade
server.
The
illustrations
show
installation
of
the
I/O
expansion
cards
in
the
system
board:
installing
the
cards
in
an
expansion
unit
is
similar.
Note:
High-speed
expansion
cards
are
not
supported
by
all
BladeCenter
unit
types.
If
an
expansion
unit
is
installed
on
the
blade
server,
you
cannot
install
a
high-speed
expansion
card
on
the
blade
server,
it
must
be
installed
on
the
expansion
unit.
The
following
illustration
shows
how
to
install
a
high-speed
expansion
card.

complete

Read
the
safety
information
that

If
the
blade
server
is

unit,
remove
it
(see
“Removing
the
blade
server
from
the
BladeCenter
unit”
on
page
17
for
instructions).
3.
Carefully
lay
the
blade
server
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface.
4.
Open
the
blade
server
cover
(see
“Opening
the
blade
server
cover”
on
page
18
for
instructions).
5.
Locate
the
blade-expansion
connector
and
remove
the
cover,
if
one
is
installed.
6.
Touch
the
static-protective
package
that
contains
the
expansion
card
to
any
unpainted
metal
surface
on
the
BladeCenter
unit
or
any
unpainted
metal
surface
on
any
other
grounded
rack
component;
then,
remove
the
expansion
card
from
the
package.
