12 Connecting the Token/Ring LAN cable
Note:
Wrap plug (Part 6165899
MUST
be
installed when not making this connection.
1. Locate two RJ-45 to LAN token/ring cables
(Part 60G1063) in the shipping box.
2. Connect the RJ-45 connector (Part
60G1063) to the Hardware Management
Console adapter.
3. Locate the LAN extension cable (Part
6339134) in the shipping box.
4. Connect the extension cable to the LAN
end of the first cable.
5. Connect the other end to a second (Part
60G1063) cable.
6. Connect the RJ-45 end of the second (Part
60G1063) cable to any available connector
of the 8226/MAU.
13 Connecting the optional IBM 3270 coaxial
cable
Perform this step only if there is a (IBM 3270
adapter card Connection).
The IBM 3720 adapter has only one BNC
connector.
1. Connect the coaxial cable to the system
unit card.
2. Ask the customer to provide you with the
address that is required for his operating
system console.
The loose end of the coaxial cable must be
connected to a control unit, such as the 3174
Subsystem Control Unit.
If you are connecting the coaxial cable to a control
unit, power off the control unit before connecting
the cable.
