2 Hardware Management Console
Communications
1. Over type the pre-set Support Element
name with the new name if the customer
wishes to change the default name.
2. If more than one Support Element is
attached to the LAN, and they are going to
communicate with a Hardware
Management Console each Support
Element and Hardware Management
Console must have a unique TCPIP
address.
3. Enter a
IP address
. The factory default
setting for the primary LAN adapter is
9.130.1.* (* being unique for each
Hardware Management Console and
Support Element) in the ring. This field can
be replaced with a customer IP address.
4. Enter a
network mask
. The factory default
setting for the primary LAN adapter is
255.255.255.0 this field can be replaced
with the customers network mask.
5. If configuring a second LAN adapter
connection enter a unique IP address in the
second adapter field. The network mask is
the same as first LAN adapter.
6. Status colors and CHPID status are best
set by the Customer to suit their unique
operating conditions.
7. Select
Apply
to save the changes.
TCPIP device addressing must be as follows. The
subnet must be the same for all devices both
Hardware Management Console and Support
Element's. The individual device address must be
unique.

Note:
In some instances it may be necessary to
select the
reset
button on the Support Element
Settings panel to activate the IP address fields. If
this happens you will need to perform step
1
Selecting the options
again before selecting the
Apply
button.
3 Completing Configuration
If automatic re-boot did not occur do the
following.
1. Select
Logoff
from the
Console Actions
Work Area
.
2. Select
Shutdown
from the OS2
LaunchPad.
3. Select
Yes
4. Press
Alt+Ctrl+Del
keys after shutdown
completes to apply the changes.
5. If attaching to an Hardware Management
Console continue the installation using the
Hardware Management Console go to
Chapter 6, “Completing the Installation” on
page 6-1
