Bits 2-7 contain the logical volume address.
Sense Byte 5–Low Cylinder Address
Represents the least significant bits of the last cylinder argument acted upon at this
logical volume. For a 3390/9 logical volume, the cylinder and head address can not
be contained in two bytes. Therefore, the cylinder and track addresses are
contained in sense bytes 29 through 31, and this byte will be set to 'FF'x.
Sense Byte 6–High Cylinder Address and Track Address
Bits 0-3 represent the most significant bits of the last cylinder argument acted upon
at this logical volume; Bits 4–7 identify which track within that cylinder was
referenced. For a 3390/9 logical volume, the cylinder and head address can not be
contained in two bytes. Therefore, the cylinder and track addresses are contained
in sense bytes 29 through 31, and this byte will be set to 'FF'x.
Sense Byte 7–Format/Message
Bits 0 through 3 of byte 7 identify the specific format of the remaining sense bytes:
Bits 4 through 7 of byte 7 have an encoded message that describes the specific
error condition. The codes are included in the Format descriptions that start on
page 5-10.

The description of these bytes depends on the Format. The Format descriptions
start on page 5-10.
Sense Byte 25–Program Action Code
This byte contains information that shows the error recovery procedures (ERPs)
what type of action to take. (See “Error Recovery Actions” on page 7-2.) This byte
can contain other than the following value, but ERP uses only this value.
