Installing additional cache memory in a controller
The controller comes with 256 MB of cache memory installed. You can add an additional
256 MB dual inline memory module (DIMM) for a total of 512 MB cache, with the IBM
Netfinity FAStT500 256 MB Cache option.
Use the following procedure to upgrade your controller cache memory. If you are
installing the controller unit in a rack and have already removed the RAID controller, skip
Attention: When you handle electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive devices, take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details about

1 Unlock and open the levers on the controller; then, use the levers to pull the controller
out of the controller unit a few inches. Grasp both sides of the controller to completely
remove it from the controller unit.
