Installing Internal Drives
Non-hot-swap servers come with a 16-bit SCSI cable. Use this
cable to install additional 8-bit devices. You must use a 68-to-50
pin converter to connect 8-bit devices to a 16-bit SCSI cable.
Note: You cannot install 16-bit devices on an 8-bit cable.
Follow the instructions in the documentation that comes with
the drives. Pay particular attention to the information about
setting jumpers and switches, and removing termination.
If a tray is attached to a drive that you intend to install, you
must remove the tray before installing the drive. Follow the
instructions in the documentation that comes with the drive.
a. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver under the side of the
cover plate.
b. Lift the cover plate and remove it from the server front
panel. (Save the cover plate for future use.)
