Installing Internal Drives
In this example, you cannot connect external devices to the
Channel 1 connector on the ServeRAID adapter. Instead,
you must install a second ServeRAID adapter to support
external devices.
Example 3:
A cable connects the CD-ROM drive and a tape
drive installed in bay B of a disk-array model to the output
connector on the bank C backplane. A cable connects the
input connector on the bank C backplane to Channel 3 on
the ServeRAID adapter. A daisy-chain cable connects the
input connector on the bank D backplane to the output
connector on the bank E backplane. A SCSI cable connects
the input connector on the bank E backplane to Channel 2
on the ServeRAID adapter. Banks D and E contain three
half-high drives each; the backplane in bank E is set to HI.
The DASD status cable connects the adapter to the
backplane in bank C, and continues to the DASD status
connector on the backplanes in bank D and bank E.
