Connecting External Options
Connecting External Options
Before you begin:
Be sure you have read “Electrical Safety” on page 179 and
“Handling Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 180.
Your PC Server 520 supports external devices, that is, devices that
connect to the connectors on the back of the server. These external
options include SCSI-2 drives and storage enclosures, printers,
modems, and other serial and parallel devices.
The information in this section supplements the instructions that
come with the external option. Use the instructions that come with
the option to prepare it for installation.
Adding a Hot-Swap Storage Expansion Enclosure
The IBM PC Server Enterprise Expansion Enclosure is one of several
SCSI storage enclosures that you can attach to the external SCSI-2
connector on your server. Contact your IBM reseller or IBM
marketing representative for additional information.
