STEP 27
Slowly slide the Disk Enclosure to service position, observing the following notices and instructions below.
DANGER:
Heavy equipment — personal injury or equipment damage might result if mishandled. (D006)
DANGER:
Rack-mounted devices are not to be used as shelves or work spaces. (L002)
CAUTION:
System or part is heavy. The label is accompanied by a specific weight range. (L009)
The Disk Enclosure weighs about 550 lbs (250 kg) when full.
DANGER:
Risk of injury due to heavy components falling from rack if the supplemental
supports are not installed. (L019)
ATTENTION: The supplemental supports (Cam Followers) must be installed for the CEC or DE
slide out service.
CAUTION:
Do not pull out more than one drawer at a time. The rack might become unstable if you
pull out more than one drawer at a time. (L024)
Check carefully that all cables are out of the way of the top, bottom, sides, and
especially the corners
of the DE.
For this operation it may be necessary to use Ladder P/N 46G5947 shipped with the POWER 775 Lift Tool Kit.
Grasping the blue-purple recessed touch points
on the cable tray (see Figure 30), slide the disk enclosure forward
slowly, checking that the cam followers were placed in the correct position and that the DE channels are supported
by the cam followers as you slide out the DE.
Slowly slide the DE until the fan cover is fully exposed. One of the two safety latches will engage to stop the DE
from sliding, just after the fan cover is exposed (see Figure 31 and Figure 32).
ATTENTION: Do not go under or reach under the DE while it is at service position
