The system cooling fans are activated after approximately 30 seconds and begin to accelerate to
operating speed.

Progress indicators appear on the control panel display while the system is being started.
c.
The power-on light on the control panel stops flashing and remains on, indicating that the system
is powered on.

Install an operating system and update the operating system.

If required, update the system firmware.

If you have a stand-alone server, install the front door, if necessary, by completing the following steps:
a.
Hold the front door at an approximate 120 degree angle to the system as shown in the figure.
b.
Follow the direction of the arrow as shown in the figure to attach the door.
c.
Close the door.
Note:
If you must remove the front door, complete the following steps:
a.
Open the front door by grasping the door handle and pulling the door at approximately a 120
degree angle to the system.
b.
Pull the door away from the cover.

You have now completed the steps to install your server.
Setting up a preinstalled server
Learn how to set up a IBM Power System S824 (8286-42A) that is preinstalled in the rack.
Note:
The terracotta shipping brackets on the right and left of the rear of the server do not interfere with
the installation or operation of the system. They can remain installed on the system.
