System Board
Removal
1. If you have not already done so, remove the front covers as described in
“Covers” on page 7-3.
2. Remove the three screws that secure the airflow baffle to the system chassis,
slide the airflow baffle to the front of the system unit, and remove the airflow
baffle.
3. Do the removal procedure in “Operator Panel Display” on page 7-28.
4. Do the removal procedure in “Adapters” on page 7-15.
5. Do the removal procedure in “Memory Modules” on page 7-17.
6. Do the removal procedure in “CPU Card” on page 7-22.
7. Unplug the operator panel display cable from the system planar.
8. Unplug the diskette drive cable from the system planar, and unplug the signal
and power cables from the rear of the hard drive in bay 0.
9. Remove the two screws that secure the mounting cage for the diskette drive and
hard drive in bay 0. Remove the mounting cage and set it aside.
10. Unplug the serial 1, serial 2, and parallel cables from the system board.
11. Unplug the power supply, speaker, and fan cables from the system board.
12. Unplug the power, SCSI, and hard drive LED cables from the system board.
13. Remove the screws that attach the system board to the system unit frame.
14. Slide the system board toward the front of the system unit, tip the bottom of the
system board outward, and remove the system board.
15. Swap the old VPD module (U5) to the new system board.
Replacement
To replace the system board, do the removal steps in the reverse order.
Be sure to tell the customer that the time and date need to be reset.
