Step 1540-10
The system is working correctly with this configuration. One of the FRUs (adapters)
that you removed is probably defective.
1. Turn the power off.
2. Plug the diskette drive cable into the diskette drive connector on the system
board.
3. Turn the power on.
4. Insert the diagnostic CD-ROM disc into the CD-ROM drive.
5. After the POST indicators are displayed and before the long beep press the F5
key on a direct attached keyboard or the number 5 key on a ASCII terminal
keyboard.
6. Wait until the "Please define the System Console" screen is displayed or the
system appears to stop.
Is the "Please define the System Console" screen displayed?
NO
One of the FRUs remaining in the system is defective.
In the following order, exchange the FRUs that have not been exchanged.
1. Diskette drive
2. Diskette drive cable
3. System board
4. Power supply
Repeat this step until the defective FRU is identified or all the FRUs have
been exchanged.
If the symptom did not change and all the FRUs have been exchanged,
call your service support person for assistance.
If the symptom has changed check for loose cards, cables, and obvious
problems. If you do not find a problem return to “Step 1540-1” on
page 2-19 in this MAP and follow the instructions for the new symptom.
