Replacing the graphics processing unit in a water-cooled 8335-GTB
system
Learn how to replace a graphics processing unit (GPU) in the water-cooled IBM Power System S822LC
(8335-GTB) system.
Procedure
1.
Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
2.
Using your labels, noting the orientation of the GPU, use the alignment pins under the GPU to
carefully insert the GPU onto the system backplane.
3.
Secure the GPU by threading the eight screws into the system backplane as shown in Figure 83 on
page 68. Use a #2 Phillips head screw driver to tighten the eight screws. Take care to not damage the
system backplane with the screw driver tip.
