Removing the server top cover
Attention:
If you release the cover latch and remove the cover while the server is
running, the server will lose power and turn off automatically. After you reinstall
the cover, you can power-on the server again.
To remove the server top cover, complete the following steps:
1.
Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page vii
and “Installation guidelines” on page 261.
2.
Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 17) and all attached
peripheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external
cables as necessary to replace the device.
Note:
When the cover is removed from the server, the server automatically
powers off. To view any LEDs on the system board, press the
Light path
button
to light the LEDs.
3.
If the server has been installed in a rack, slide the server out from the rack
enclosure.
4.
Press in on the blue tab on the cover-release latch and lift the cover release
latch up (the cover slides to the rear). Lift the cover off the server and set it
aside.
