only
DS4000

you
can
intermix
DS4000
EXP700s
and
DS4000
EXP710s
or
DS4000
EXP700s
and
FAStT
EXP500s

to

Attention:
It
is
strongly
recommended
that
you
choose
one
scheme
of
cabling
when
connecting
your
storage
expansion
enclosures
together
and
apply
that
scheme
to
all
your
fibre
channel
cabling
connections.
Mixing
cabling
schemes
can
increase
the
risk
of
making
fibre
channel
cabling
errors
and
complicate
troubleshooting
procedures
in
the
event
of
drive
loop
problems.
All
four
figures
show
examples
of
cabling
configurations
with
both
integrated
drive

DS4000

models
(such

the
DS4300)

The
numbers
provided
in
the
figures
correspond
to
the
following
cabling
instructions
and
show
the
order
in
which
cables
should
be
attached.
Note:
Unlike
the
DS4300,
the
ports
on
the
DS4400
and
DS4500
are
marked

To
create
the
redundant
loops
shown
in
through
you
would
perform
the
following
steps:
1.
Make
two
fibre-channel
connections
from
the
first
storage
expansion
enclosure
to
the
second
storage
expansion
enclosure
(connections
1
and
2).
2.
Make
two
fibre-channel
connections
from
the
second
storage
expansion
enclosure
to
the
third
storage
expansion
enclosure
(connections
3
and
4).
3.
Continue
making
fibre-channel
connections
in
this
manner
until
you
have
connected
all
new
storage
expansion
enclosures.
Note:
For
the
DS4400
and
DS4500,
the
maximum
number
of
DS4000
EXP700
and
DS4000
EXP710
storage
expansion
enclosures
in
a
single
drive
loop
is
eight.
For
the
DS4300,
the
maximum
number
of
DS4000
EXP700
and
DS4000
EXP710
storage
expansion
enclosures
in
a
single
drive
loop
is
seven.
(With
the
DS4400
and
DS4500,
when
you
mix
FAStT
EXP500
and
DS4000
EXP700s,
the
maximum
number
of
storage
expansion
enclosures
in
the
same
drive
loop
is
increased.)
The
following
two
steps
describe
connecting
the
storage
expansion
enclosures.
They
are
described
in
greater
detail
in
4.
Make
a
fibre-channel
connection
from
the
DS4000
storage
server
drive
port
to
the
OUT
port
in
the
left
ESM
of
the
first
storage
expansion
enclosure
in
the
redundant
drive
loop
(connection
5).
5.
Make
a
fibre-channel
connection
from
the
DS4000
storage
server
drive
port
to
the
IN
port
in
the
right
ESM
of
the
last
storage
expansion
enclosure
in
the
redundant
drive
loop
(connection
6).
