Chapter 10. Working with file systems in FSI
Working with file systems when using ProtecTIER for FSI involves tasks such as
creating, modifying, and deleting file systems.
Creating a file system
This topic describes how to create a file system.
About this task
When creating file systems, the overall nominal capacity of all FSI file systems
together is less than, or equal to, the nominal capacity of the repository.
Procedure
1.
From the Systems Management view of ProtecTIER Manager, select Create file
system
from the File system menu.
2.
Type the file system name in the Name field.
3.
Define the maximum size of the file system.
Note:
By default, compression and hyperfactor are enabled while the SNMP
threshold is disabled.
4.
Click Ok. A new file system is added to the Systems Management navigation
pane and the details are displayed in the view pane.
Modifying properties of a file system
This topic describes how to change file system attributes.
About this task
Modify the properties of a file system, such as the file system name, the maximum
size of the file system, the Hyperfactor and compression settings, and the SNMP
threshold setting:
Procedure
1.
From the Systems Management view, select an existing file system under the
File System
category in the navigation pane.
2.
Select Modify properties from the File system menu.
3.
(Optional) Type a new name in the File system name: field to change the name
of the file system.
4.
(Optional) Type a new value (in GB) in the Maximum file system size: field to
change the maximum size of the file system.
Notes:

An informational message displays the maximum file system size that can be
defined.

It is possible that in order to modify the file system you will be required to
change the file system size. When creating the file system, the maximum file
system size is set as the configured and as the actual, but over time due to
