IBM xSeries 330 Type 8675: Installation Guide

The following illustration shows the location of the 33-MHz and 66-MHz PCI
expansion slots on the system board.

Adapter considerations

Before you install adapters, review the following:

Locate the documentation that comes with the adapter and follow those
instructions in addition to the instructions in this chapter. If you need to change
the switch settings or jumper settings on your adapter, follow the instructions that
come with the adapter.

You can install 32-bit or 64-bit full-length or half-length adapters in the expansion
slots. Full-length adapters are installed in slot 1; half-length adapters are installed
in either slot 1 or 2.

Your server supports a 5.0 V PCI adapter in slot 2 and a 3.3 V PCI adapter in slot
1.

Your server uses a rotational interrupt technique to configure PCI adapters. You
can use this technique to install PCI adapters that currently do not support
sharing of PCI interrupts.

PCI slot 1 and the integrated SCSI controller are on PCI bus A; the system board,
PCI slot 2, and all other integrated devices are on PCI bus B.

The system scans PCI slots 1 and 2 to assign system resources. By default, the
system starts (boots) devices in the following order: system IDE and SCSI
devices, then PCI devices.

Note:

To change the startup order, start the Configuration/Setup Utility program,
and select

Start Options

from the main menu. Then, select

Startup

Sequence Options

PCI slot 1
64 bit
66 MHz 3.3 V (J23)

PCI slot 2
64 bit
33 MHz 5.0 V (J10)
