Power-on
password
If
a
power-on
password
is
set,
when
you
turn
on
the
server,
the
system
startup
will
not
be
completed
until
you
type
the
power-on
password.
You
can
use
any
combination
of
up
to
seven
characters
(A
–
Z,
a
–
z,
and
0
–
9)
for
the
password.
If
a
power-on
password
is
set,
you
can
enable
the
Unattended
Start
mode,
in
which
the
keyboard
and
mouse
remain
locked
but
the
operating
system
can
start.
You
can
unlock
the
keyboard
and
mouse
by
typing
the
power-on
password.
If
you
forget
the
power-on
password,
you
can
regain
access
to
the
server
in
any
of
the
following
ways:
v
If
an
administrator
password
is
set,
type
the
administrator
password
at
the
password
prompt
(see
“Administrator
password”).
Start
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
and
reset
the
power-on
password.
v
Change
the
position
of
the
power-on
password
override
jumper
(J52)
on
the
system
board
to
bypass
the
power-on
password
check.
v
Remove
the
server
battery
and
then
reinstall
it.
After
you
regain
access
to
the
server,
you
can
reset
the
power-on
password.

additional
information.
Administrator
password
If
an
administrator
password
is
set,
you
must
type
the
administrator
password
for
access
to
the
full
Configuration/Setup
Utility
menu.
You
can
use
any
combination
of
up
to
seven
characters
((A
–
Z,
a
–
z,
and
0
–
9)
for
the
password.
If
you
forget
the
administrator
password,
you
can
reset
it.

Resetting
passwords
If
you
forget
the
power-on
password
or
the
administrator
password,
you
can
reset
the
password
after
you
perform
one
of
the
following
actions:
v
You
can
change
the
position
of
the
power-on
password
override
jumper
(J52)
on
the
system
board
to
bypass
the
power-on
password
check.
This
enables
you
to
reset
the
passwords
without
clearing
all
of
the
current
system
configuration
values.
v
You
can
remove
the
server
battery
and
then
reinstall
it.
This
clears
the
current
system
configuration
values
and
resets
them
to
their
default
values.

After
you
reinstall
the
battery,
you
must
access
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program,
reset
the
system
date
and
time,
and
reset
all
other
configuration
values
where
necessary.
