Removing
the
SAS/SATA
controller
Complete
the
following
steps
to
remove
the
SAS/SATA
controller
from
the
system
board:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
and
2.
Turn
off
the
server
and
peripheral
devices,
and
disconnect
the
power
cords
and
all
external
cables.
3.
Remove
the
server
from
the
rack;
then,
remove
the
cover
(see
4.
Grasp
the
riser-card
assembly
at
the
rear
edge
and
lift
to
remove
the
riser-card
assembly.
5.
Disconnect
any
cables
from
the
adapters;
then,
set
the
riser-card
assembly
aside.
6.
Disconnect
the
cable
from
the
SAS/SATA
controller
to
the
SAS/SATA
backplane.
7.
Grasp
the
edges
of
the
SAS/SATA
controller.
8.
Pinch
the
top
of
each
of
the
four
plastic
alignment
pins
while
gently
lifting
the
controller,
until
the
alignment
pins
release
the
controller.
9.
Lift
the
controller
off
the
system
board.
10.
If
you
are
instructed
to
return
the
SAS/SATA
controller,
follow
all
packaging
instructions,
and
use
any
packaging
materials
for
shipping
that
are
supplied
to
you.
Installing
the
SAS/SATA
controller
Complete
the
following
steps
to
replace
the
SAS/SATA
controller
on
the
system
board:
1.
Grasp
the
edges
of
the
SAS/SATA
controller.
2.
Align
the
controller
with
the
SAS/SATA
controller
card
connector
on
the
system
board
(see
the
illustration
on
page
for
the
location
of
the
connector),
and
align
the
holes
in
the
card
with
the
four
plastic
alignment
pins
on
the
system
board.
3.
Press
the
controller
gently
onto
the
alignment
pins
and
into
the
SAS/SATA
controller
card
connector
on
the
system
board.
Make
sure
that
the
top
of
each
alignment
pin
has
expanded
to
hold
the
controller
card
securely
in
place.
4.
Connect
the
cable
from
the
SAS/SATA
controller
to
the
SAS/SATA
backplane.
