Drum Scanner User Manual
The drum and scanning optics are arranged in the
upper part of the cabinet for convenience. Access is
by means of a door which is opened by pulling on
the recessed handle at its right-hand side.
Internal lighting is provided behind the drum to help
you view originals mounted on the drum. The lights
come on automatically whenever the upper door is
opened.
The computer system is contained within a unit in
the lower cabinet. The computer unit is fitted with a
floppy disk drive for installing software upgrades.
Access to this part of the cabinet is via the lower
door which is also opened by pulling on its recessed
handle.
The only operator controls on the
360
are a Power
On/Off switch and an illuminated Door Lock button.
The electrical connectors are at the rear of the
scanner, inside the lower grille opening.
Drum Types
Three drum types are available for mounting
originals: Quick
Mount

and Slick

Mount
Drum
The Quick
Mount
drum is sometimes called the
Internal
drum because originals are mounted on its
inside surface. The short Quick
Mount
drum is
illustrated in Fig. 1.2.
The Quick
Mount
drum is designed to allow quick
mounting of originals. The drum is fitted with a
flexible insert which holds the original lightly in place
against the inside surface of the drum. Once the
drum is spinning, centrifugal force presses the
