Inspecting the Drum
The drum is precision made to the highest optical
standards. For best quality results it must be kept in
perfect condition. You should regularly inspect the
drum, checking for:
•
Fingerprints, stains and dust. Remove these
using a high quality proprietary drum cleaner
applied with a Selvyt cloth or Repro wipes.
•
Scratches, cracks, chips or crazing of the
perspex. A scratched external drum can still be
suitable for scanning reflection copy (where the
analysing light does not pass through the drum).
However, a scratched internal drum or a
cracked or chipped drum of any type should
not be used at all.
•
Security of the drum boss and upper rim. Do not
use the drum if there is any sign of deterioration of
the bonds.
Cleaning the Lenses
The lenses mounted at the top of the analyser
carriage should be cleaned. One lens is located
