and a FTP client software.

Requirements
•
A computer with a FTP client software (e.g. FileZilla client).
•
A LAN (Local Area Network) access from the player and the computer, for the local networking
content management.
•
An Internet access from the player and the computer, for remote networking content management.
Recommended usage
•
This method is recommended when the update is done remotely over a local Ethernet network or
over the Internet network, player by player, or for a group of players with a third-party appropriate
FTP client tools.
•
Pros:
◦
Recommended for off-site handling.
◦
Recommended for exclusive content management with a distant provider.
◦
Recommended with the use of a built-in connector for the Main Media (My Music Player only).
◦
Recommended for managing one or more players.
◦
Free selection of the FTP client tools according to the requirements.
•
Cons:
◦
Required skills about the Ethernet network deploy.
◦
The Scheduler function cannot be used to execute an update of content that depends on a
remote operation.
◦
Some network administration policies do not authorize an access from an external FTP.
◦
For technical reasons, the use of the SATA are not supported properly with the FTP functions
(My Music Player HW V1.0 only)
.
◦
The management of a large number of players requires higher skill level of the FTP clients tools
used (batch, scheduling, content synchronization).
Procedure
•
Many FTP client software exist and their modalities of use can change from a software to another,
but the settings can be summarized as follows:
1. The player needs to be properly connected and accessible through the network. Please refer to
Ethernet Network Connection (page 49) and Ethernet Page of the Web server (Page 81).
2. Launch the FTP client software of the computer.
3. In the
Host
setting enter:
•
With a local area network (LAN) or with an Internet access through a VPN:
◦
The player network address (e.g.
mmp-8b0a
or
192.168.0.104
). To know the player
network address, please refer to Identify the player on the network of Ethernet Network
Connection (page 50).
For a VPN (Virtual Private Network) use, please refer to Accessing the Player with Internet
(page 51).
•
With an Internet access to the player directly through an Internet router:
◦
The IP address of the local router from where the player is connected (or a domain name if
a DynDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) is used).
4. In the
Port
setting enter the port number
21
of the FTP server of the player. When an Internet
access is done directly through an Internet router, the NAT/PAT configuration can modify the port
