MANTEL CLEARANCES AND WALL DETAILS

A combustible mantel shelf maybe installed a maximum 12" (22.9 

cm) from the wall. 

Figures 5 and 6

 show the minimum allow-

able distances from various combustible mantel components in 

relation to fireplace opening.

Minimum clearance requirements include any projections such as 

shelves, window sills, mantels, etc. above the appliance.
