Unpack the drum unit assembly, including
the toner cartridge, and gently rock it from
side to side five
or six times to distribute the toner evenly
inside the cartridge.
To prevent damage to the drum, do not
expose it to light for longer than
a few minutes.

Remove the protective part.

machine.

If you have an Optional Lower
Cassette, Connect it
A.
Carefully pick up the machine and place it on top of the lower cassette.
B.
Plug the modular cable from the lower cassette into the modular jack on
the machine.
To select which cassette will be used for printing. See Chapter 4 in
Owner’s Manual in CD-ROM.
If you move the machine after connecting the lower cassette, be sure to
carefully lift the lower cassette with the machine because they are not
attached.

FAX ONLY
For use with a dedicated fax line. Every call is answered as a fax.
MANUAL
You control the phone line and must answer every call
yourself.
FAX/TEL
If an external telephone is connected to the EXT. jack, the machine
controls the line and automatically answers every call. If the call is
a fax it will receive the fax. If the call is not a fax it will ring (double
ring) for you to pick up the call using an external telephone.
TAM:ANSWER MACH.
The external TAM automatically answers every call. Voice messages
are stored on the external TAM. Fax messages are printed.

Lock
Push the lever up to unlock the scanner. (The blue
Scanner Lock Lever is on the back left under side of the
scanner cover.)
If CHECK SCAN LOCK appears on the LCD,
immediately release the scanner lock and press
